Can I install the ceiling light directly above a shower or bathtub?

So long as the light is not subject to water spray, it should be OK to install a ceiling light over a shower or bathtub, as these lights are wet location listed. However, for over a shower, we suggest looking into recessed lighting that is advertised as “recommended for above showers” or feature extra water-resistant features like a rubber gasket and glass lens or diffuser. Such lights will typically last longer and trap less moisture than our ceiling lights.
