Cold weather will affect the solar panel’s ability to collect sunlight. Additionally, the lack of direct sunlight and shorter daytime hours in winter will result in reduced effectiveness of the solar floodlight. It is not unusual to expect diminished light outputs and longer charge times in winter, especially in temperatures below 32°F.
To counter these wintertime issues, consider fully recharging the batteries. To do this, place the gutter light in direct sunlight for a period of 2-3 days, which will allow the battery to charge via solar power without discharging at night. Ensure that the solar panel is positioned to collect as much sunlight as possible.
