The installation location may be too far from the router or there is interference. Consider installing a WiFi extender near the installation location or move your router closer to the installation location. When purchasing a WiFi extender, purchasing from the same manufacturer as your router is recommended as the chances of compatibility are higher.
Interference may be caused by:
- Walls (concrete and metal materials have higher probability of blocking WiFi signal)
- Mirrors
- Microwave ovens
- Wireless speakers
- Water / fish tanks
- Satellite
- Breaker boxes
- Neighbor’s WiFi
- Telephones running on 2.4GHz technology
- Other WiFi dependent products (baby monitors, wireless cameras, etc.)
If you already cannot stream videos smoothly while inside the home with minimum 2 Mbps upload and download speeds, then the issue may be due to your current home router. Purchasing a new router may help in this case.
